Wayland EDC finalizes pickup window zoning article ahead of warrant deadline

WAYLAND — January 10, 2025 — Wayland EDC finalizes Route 20 pickup window zoning article before Jan. 15 warrant deadline. Chair Rebecca M. Stanizzi told members the Select Board appeared "open-minded" to sponsoring the article after the Planning Board declined to bundle it with two other zoning items at a hearing that ran past 10:30 p.m. Town Planner Robert Hummel said outstanding legal questions are with KP Law. Karen Kelly presented polling showing 92 percent support for fast-casual restaurants — 41 percent unconditionally, 51 percent with limits — and 86 percent backing a fast-casual pickup window; the committee unanimously approved the two-page summary for distribution through the town newsletter and Facebook page. Members also discussed a roughly $100,000 economic development bond bill allocation for Route 20 master plan design work and assigned liaisons to the Finance Committee, Building Department, Conservation Commission and Planning Board.
