Wayland EDC approves and co-sponsors pre-order pickup window zoning article

WAYLAND — January 24, 2025 — Wayland EDC formally endorses and co-sponsors pre-order pickup window zoning article. The Economic Development Committee voted 4-0-1 on Jan. 24 to approve the final article as sent to the Select Board and Planning Board, then 4-0 to co-sponsor it with the Select Board, with member Val Ochenko abstaining on the first motion. Chair Becky Stanizzi said the Select Board had inserted the article into the warrant 4-0-1, with Bill Whitney abstaining, and referred it to the Planning Board, which is expected to open a public hearing around Feb. 25. Town Planner Robert Hummel said the language "may change at the public hearing." The Zoning Board of Appeals has separately asked to co-sponsor — "they love the idea," Stanizzi said. Members also confirmed $250,000 in proposed FY26 capital funds for Route 20 sidewalk engineering against a $600,000-$800,000 total estimate.
