Wayland EDC advances pickup-window overlay as ZBA signs on as co-sponsor
WAYLAND — February 14, 2025 — Wayland EDC advances pickup-window overlay article as ZBA unanimously signs on as co-sponsor. Chair Rebecca M. Stanizzi told the committee Friday that the Zoning Board of Appeals voted to co-sponsor the restaurant pre-order pickup-window zoning article ahead of the Feb. 18 Planning Board hearing, with former ZBA chair Jim Drumbach reviewing the language as a real estate attorney. Members unanimously approved a February 2025 information sheet on the vacant former Whole Foods space at Wayland Village Plaza and moved to seek Select Board approval for a dedicated EDC Facebook page. Town Manager Michael McCall, joining remotely, said he is lobbying the lieutenant governor's office to release $300,000 in state bond funds for Wayland, including $100,000 for a part-time economic development director: "We have to lobby." The committee also confirmed $250,000 for Route 20 curb-cut engineering in the fiscal 2026 capital plan and appointed Val Lochenko as its liaison to the South Landfill Visioning Committee.
