Wayland Cultural Council to seek state OK for Route 20 utility box paint
WAYLAND — October 23, 2024 — Wayland Cultural Council moves to paint final utility box and stage holiday display. Chair Pallavi Nagesha told the Oct. 23 meeting the council will apply for state permission to paint the Route 20 utility box, the last unpainted box in town, then solicit resident designs. Treasurer Naresh Mysore reported a total budget of $8,245, with $1,380 reserved for council projects and $6,865 available to allocate among 22 grant applications now under review on SmartSimple; he will propose rounding the grant pool to $7,000 next month. Members voted without objection to ask the town clerk to elevate non-voting member Alyssa Ao to a voting seat, citing the lack of a tiebreaker on a four-member quorum. The council will install a multicultural holiday bulletin board at the town building at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 22. Ao, asked for youth news, said senior fall had been "insane."
