Wayland Cultural Council declines managing town green, will help shape rules

WAYLAND — February 14, 2023 — Wayland Cultural Council adds a student liaison and steps back from running the town green. Chair Rachel Simon-Kurtz announced the resignation of member Katie Allen and introduced Wayland High junior Annabelle Zhang as the council's new non-voting student liaison. Members voted 5-0 to approve January minutes. Most of the meeting turned on whether the council should manage a town-owned green in the commercial center; Ashley Fuller said it was "a town management piece" that "doesn't belong in a separate small council," with Lynn Lipon pointing toward Parks and Recreation instead. Naresh Mysore and Nora Rothchild agreed to keep attending Economic Development Committee meetings led by Becky Seneze. The council is also awaiting word on two Warren Dunn Astley Memorial Fund applications, including the DORS rail-trail project.
