Wayland conservation panel pushes Sherina Road water main off disputed willow

WAYLAND -- July 30, 2025, Wayland Conservation Commission signals Old Connecticut Path reroute to spare disputed willow. At a continued July 30 hearing on the 13 Sherina Road subdivision filed by Carol Seto and Patricia Lazawicki, abutter Vanessa Jason and her attorney Ben Tamen pushed back on engineer Kevin O'Leary's plan to run a water main within 10 feet of a mature willow on her property, with Jason telling commissioners, "I would really like this tree to stay intact." Chair Sean P. Fair and Administrator Linda Hansen indicated rerouting through Old Connecticut Path would resolve both the tree dispute and concerns about a historic spring; the hearing was continued to Aug. 20 pending DGT's Chapter 193 peer review. The commission also voted 5-0 to issue an order of conditions for Urban Outfitters' Terrain redevelopment at 297 and 311 Boston Post Road, which adds roughly 75 trees, 3,200 cubic feet of flood storage and cuts impervious area by 5,600 square feet.
