Wayland committee weighs disability-housing options at 212 Cochituate Road

WAYLAND — October 8, 2025 — Wayland's 212 Cochituate Road committee takes testimony from parents, Work Inc. and abutters. The 212 Cochituate Road Advisory Committee, chaired by Tom Faye, spent three hours Wednesday gathering input but made no decisions on building count, resident population or funding model for the town-owned parcel. Theresa "TC" of Framingham described her deafblind daughter's roughly $120,000-a-year state support through the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind and a failed first placement; member Stephanie Lynch urged flexible design for her 40-year-old son and others needing 24-hour care. Work Inc. CEO Jim Cassetta, whose agency runs 24 homes on a $70 million budget, called Wayland's outreach "unusual," while senior staffer Sharon Smith warned, "You really want to pick your constituents," and pressed the town to commit to a state funding partner before issuing an RFP. The committee unanimously approved Sept. 3 minutes; an RFI closes Oct. 16.
