Wayland committee tilts toward SOLitude's $44,900 bid for Dudley Pond herbicide
WAYLAND -- April 12, 2023, Wayland committee tilts toward SOLitude for Dudley Pond herbicide as harvester cost-share takes shape. The Surface Water Quality Committee on Wednesday reviewed two bids to apply ProcellaCOR this spring, $44,900 from SOLitude Lake Management and roughly $54,888 from Water and Wetland, with procurement lead John Bugbee calling the gap "a little concerning" but pledging to verify SOLitude can meet the Conservation Commission's amended order of conditions. Chair Thomas Klem will meet with ConCom on May 3 to challenge a testing regime requiring about a dozen post-application rounds. Norm Marowitz presented a reimbursement formula under which the Dudley Pond Association will pay roughly $5,000 a year toward the $82,000 harvester's amortized cost plus about $2,500 in annual operating expenses. Carole Plumb urged the committee to study Worcester's cyanoBloomWatch volunteer monitoring program as a local model.
