Wayland Board of Health weighs fee overhaul and new asbestos charge
WAYLAND — December 11, 2023 — Wayland Board of Health weighs fee overhaul and issues mold order at senior residence. At its Dec. 11 meeting, the board reviewed proposed updates to its fee schedule, including a new $50 asbestos review fee and a rewrite of subdivision review fees currently set at $2,000 preliminary and $3,000 definitive. No votes were taken on the changes. The health director reported that a legal order was issued to the Residences at 10 Greenway after an inspection with staffer Darren McCarthy confirmed mold tied to a construction-related leak; the facility has 30 days to respond and has hired an environmental consultant. The department also logged 505 COVID and flu vaccinations since September and distributed 448 free Narcan doses from August through November. Chair Robert Defrancesco presided; the board approved May 22 and July 10 minutes before recessing to a concurrent MBTA Communities meeting.
