Planning Board continues Veritas Christian Academy hearing after sweeping peer review
WAYLAND — October 22, 2024 — Wayland Planning Board continues Veritas Christian Academy hearing amid stormwater and traffic concerns. The board voted 5-0 Tuesday to continue the 164-172 Cochituate Road site-plan hearing to Nov. 12 after peer reviewers Greg Roy of Dillis and Roy and John Dixon of TEC identified dozens of issues, from shallow ledge under proposed infiltration basins to a fire truck that can navigate the site only "using both lanes" through the parent pickup zone. Civil reviewer Roy flagged a Zone II drinking-water septic location, retaining-wall setbacks and freeboard shortfalls; Dixon called the driveway's proximity to Yaeger Way a safety concern. Christopher Blessen of Tappé Architects said many comments "would be more restrictive than what the applicant is entitled to" under the Dover Amendment. The board also continued the Islamic Center of Boston hearing at 129 Boston Post Road to Nov. 12, extending its decision deadline to Dec. 5.
