Planning Board continues Shaw Drive subdivision hearing to April 11
WAYLAND -- March 14, 2023, Wayland Planning Board pushes Mendler Woods conservation cluster review to April 11. The five-member board, chaired by Anete S. Lewis, sent the 60 Shaw Drive five-lot application back for revisions on setbacks, drainage and a consolidated site plan, with member Dan Hill flagging that the plan proposes zero-foot perimeter setbacks where the zoning bylaw requires 50 feet, reducible only to 15. Member Jennifer Steele noted basement slabs sit up to 6.4 feet below estimated seasonal high groundwater on lot four. Attorney Jay Tellerman, for Mendler Woods Eco-Development, said the team would re-examine the right-of-way argument: "the bylaw is the bylaw." The board separately endorsed ANR plans for 59 Claypit Hill Road (3-0) and 37/39 Barney Hill Road (5-0), and heard from Barrett Planning Group's Tyler Marin that Wayland must zone at least 50 acres for 750 multifamily units by Dec. 31, 2024 under the state's MBTA Communities law.
