Design board backs Liberty Pizza sign, defers water site
Design Review Advisory Board · Meeting of September 24, 2026
Wayland design board recommends Liberty Pizza sign, holds town water station over sight-line fence. The Design Review Advisory Board, meeting with three of five seats filled, voted 3-0 to recommend a 24-inch by 144-inch aluminum sign with raised lettering for Liberty Pizza at 114-122 Main Street, a design the plaza owner will replicate across all five storefronts. Chair William Sterling deferred review of a town water pump station at Route 126 and Castle Road, saying a six-foot security fence shown near the corner would block views at an intersection where he "almost got hit pulling out." The Department of Public Works is calculating a permissible fence setback and height; revised plans are due at a 7:30 p.m. in-person meeting the following Tuesday.
The board also approved its annual report as amended, combining meeting counts into a single figure of 11 meetings between July 1, 2025 and July 1, 2026.
