Cultural Council approves FY27 goals, vice chair seat open
Cultural Council · Meeting of September 23, 2026
Wayland Cultural Council approves FY27 goals and confirms its vice chair seat is now vacant. Chair Pallavi Nagesha told the four-member quorum the council awarded $10,835 to 22 applicants in the 2026 cycle, its largest ever, but has about $7,000 this round with only three applications filed ahead of the Oct. 15 deadline. Members approved the eight-point goals statement unanimously after Nagesha read it aloud line by line; it is due to the town by Sept. 30.
Nagesha said Marie Isenburg resigned, leaving no vice chair, and placed the appointment on the October agenda. Shahreen Quazi pressed on geography, saying "the more we can use for our own town or events very close to our town is better." Sixteen of 22 recipients have filed for reimbursement.
