Conservation Commission clears peer-review path for 24 School Street townhouses

WAYLAND — January 24, 2024 — Wayland Conservation Commission unblocks peer review for contested 12-unit townhouse plan at 24 School Street. Members voted 6-0, with Barbara Howell abstaining, to have Conservation Administrator Linda Hansen finalize a contract with peer reviewer Mr. Davis covering applicant Chris D'Antonio's five-document addendum plus two hydrology reports from abutter expert Mr. Horsley dated January 21, 2021 and September 13, 2023. D'Antonio, of Windsor Place LLC, complained the quote had gone out for signature without his materials and said the process was "really getting out of control," but agreed to fund the expanded scope. In a separate matter, the commission voted 6-1 to issue an order of conditions for a retaining-wall project at 23 Clay Pit Hill Road conditioned on a deed restriction barring further alteration in the wetland buffer; Howell voted no. The commission also approved a 0.3-mile Bay Circuit Trail connector backed by a $10,000 Appalachian Mountain Club grant.
