Arts Wayland Calls For Authors To Reimagine State's Myths
Wednesday, August 5 — Arts Wayland and the MetroWest Writers' Guild put out an open call for Massachusetts authors to reimagine the state's myths and legends in new fiction and poetry, part of a project the gallery is calling "The Massachusetts Gothic." Writers have until Tuesday, September 1 to submit ghost stories, unexplained phenomena or other Bay State lore, with applicants notified by mid-September and a reception and reading planned for Friday, September 25 at 7 p.m. at the Arts Wayland Gallery on Andrew Avenue. Program co-lead Luke Acton is fielding support and eligibility questions, and the MetroWest Writers' Guild will hold write-in sessions to help writers prepare their submissions.

Thursday, August 6, 7 to 8:30 p.m. — Arts Wayland hosts "Art Circle: What Keeps You Coming Back," a member conversation and reflection gathering at the gallery.
Friday, August 7 — Wayland Town Beach is set to host a Shabbat on the Beach gathering, per a Wayland Patch calendar listing.
Tuesday, August 11, 7:30 p.m. — Arts Wayland presents "The Songwriter's Woodshed," an evening songwriting session at the gallery.
Thursday, August 17, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. — Arts Wayland's "Macho Mocha: Coffee & Connection for Men" returns for its monthly gathering.
