Wayland Youth Soccer's Boys Strikers Earn Spot in MTOC Tournament
WAYLAND — Wayland Youth Soccer's seventh and eighth grade Boys Strikers earned a berth in the MTOC Tournament, the week's most notable local sports development as youth leagues across town wrapped their spring seasons and pivoted to registration for summer and fall. With Wayland High School athletics on summer break and no varsity games on the schedule, the youth organizations carried the local sports calendar.

The WAYS Boys Strikers advanced to the MTOC Tournament, Wayland Youth Soccer announced on its homepage, capping what the organization called a "terrific" spring season for coaches, players, and parents across all age groups. The Strikers' postseason run stands as one of the program's highest-profile competitive achievements of the spring.
WAYS simultaneously opened fall 2026 registration, which is now available for players in grades kindergarten through eighth. The organization is also expanding its volunteer leadership structure, building out committees that include a Coaching and Player Development committee chaired by Danielle Silverman and a Referee Development committee chaired by Brud Wright. WAYS is actively recruiting youth referees through a certification program, offering participants a path to earn income, give back, and build leadership skills.
At Cochituate Park, Wayland Little League celebrated the completion of the Eliza J. Norton Foundation's "Build with Heart" dugout project. WLL, which served as a Champion Sponsor of the initiative, announced that the new dugouts are finished and ready for play. Spring registration for the 2026 season has closed, but summer program registration is open through the league's website.
The Wayland Youth Basketball Association announced that registration for the 2025-2026 season opens August 18 at 6:00 p.m. WYBA serves girls and boys in kindergarten through eighth grade through a travel league, in-town program, and K-2 Winter Skill Academy.

The WAYS Boys Strikers enter MTOC Tournament competition as the town's marquee athletic event to follow in the coming days. Families with players in grades K-8 who have not yet signed up for fall soccer should register now through Wayland Youth Soccer. Youth basketball registration opens August 18 at 6:00 p.m.
