Wayland Select Board weighs River's Edge costs ahead of Feb. 6 deadline
WAYLAND -- January 17, 2017, Wayland Select Board absorbs River's Edge cost projections as Feb. 6 deadline looms. New DPW Director Tom Holder told the board Tuesday that the 0.62-acre triangle parcel proposed to replace the department's current laydown area is "not a long-term sustainable solution," with $250,000 in site prep, $400,000 to $600,000 for a paved access road past the former landfill, and roughly $161,000 in annual operating impacts. School officials reported four remaining bus parking sites under review and a working estimate of $550,000 for construction; off-site contracting would add $240,000 a year to the $880,000 bus contract. A draft fiscal analysis projects net annual benefits of $566,938 under Wood Partners and $382,740 under Baystone after $471,000 in recurring town costs. The board also unanimously appointed Susan Green to the Community Preservation Committee through June 2019 and heard a Collins Center review calling for consolidated finance software and clearer authority despite the town's AAA bond rating.
