The board on Dec. 9 unanimously opened the warrant for the April 5, 2020 annual town meeting and authorized Assistant Town Administrator Beth Doucette to sign a substantial amendment adding a tenant-based rental assistance program to the town's roughly $11,020 HOME allocation through Newton, with public comment open through Jan. 30. Members rated Town Administrator Louise Miller 4.5 out of 5 in her first review, with Vice-Chair Doug Levine flagging communications as the key "growth area" and member Lee Anderson saying staffing shortfalls were "not fair" to her or taxpayers. The board voted 4-1, Chair Cherry Carlson opposed, to move the Finance Committee warrant workshop to Jan. 22, and appointed Victoria Mintz to the Audit Committee and Richard Lee to the Cultural Council. Miller reported the Cast litigation closed with a $50,000 town payment.
