Wayland PMBC approves $53,824 change order on Council on Aging project

WAYLAND — January 7, 2025 — Wayland's Permanent Municipal Building Committee approved a $53,824.41 change order Tuesday as Council on Aging contingency dwindled to roughly $171,000. The unanimous vote on Change Order No. 5, dated Jan. 7, bundled 10 smaller items — including a urethane sealant swap, HVAC line-set moves, partial reframing and a paint color correction — after contractor Tower's general conditions and critical-path items were stripped out. The estimate at completion stands at $12.37 million, with a $179,000 general conditions and equipment panel dispute with Tower still unresolved and Eversource permanent power gating February substantial completion. Members directed staff to halt discretionary work, citing a $2,800 display cabinet light and a $6,000 spare conduit as examples. "If it doesn't absolutely have to be done, it doesn't get done," one member said. Builder's risk insurance, at $41,975, expires May 31.
