Wayland Planning Board sends revised senior center plans for peer review

WAYLAND — February 28, 2023 — Wayland Planning Board sends revised Council on Aging plans out for peer review, continues hearing to March 21. The applicant team, led by City Point Partners project manager Kim Tracy and Meridian Associates engineer David Kelly, cut roughly 4,500 square feet of pavement, restored the Lillian Way town green, eliminated a proposed river trail and converted the Route 20 curb cut to emergency access only. Working-group member Bill Sterling defended the 100-space lot with a peer-community survey, arguing seniors will "go to Natick or Sudbury" if they have to walk more than 300 feet. Board member Dan Hill called the revision "a pretty big improvement"; member Jen Steel pushed to bank unpaved spaces and reconsider a southern turnaround circle. The board unanimously waived the application filing fee. Peer reviewer Bert Corey of DGT will deliver comments by March 15. Earlier, consultants from BETA Group ran a Route 20 corridor master-plan forum drawing 83 participants.
