Wayland Planning Board declines to recommend solar compact zoning article
WAYLAND -- March 26, 2024, Wayland Planning Board declines to back citizen solar compact zoning article as drafted. The board, chaired by Anette S. Lewis, voted unanimously at its March 26 hearing to recommend only that the concept "be further explored," finding the one-page petition from Win Mallett of 17 Waltham Road failed to identify the bylaw section it would amend, did not define "solar compact development" and lacked review standards. The proposal would have allowed up to two units per acre on eight-acre sites with mandatory solar, geothermal heat, R-40 walls and an acre of tilled agriculture, built by right subject to site plan review. Mary Antes, chair of the Wayland Housing Partnership, called members "very enthusiastic." The board also approved an ANR plan for 534 Boston Post Road and accepted the resignation of member Ben, who said he had moved off the town's voter rolls.
