Wayland Health Department Urges Heat Safety As Temperatures Top 90

Thursday, Aug. 6 — The Wayland Health Department issued heat safety guidance after the National Weather Service posted a heat advisory for the region running through Friday evening, with temperatures expected to top 90 degrees. The department urged residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor exertion during peak hours and check on elderly neighbors and pets as the heat wave continues.

Thursday, Aug. 6, 7 p.m. — Arts Wayland hosted "Art Circle: What Keeps You Coming Back," a discussion program for local artists, at its Andrew Avenue gallery.

Through Saturday, Aug. 8 — Beatrice Herford's Vokes Players closes its run of "Over the River and Through the Woods," Joe DiPietro's comedy about an Italian-American bachelor weighing a cross-country move away from his doting grandparents, with final performances this weekend at Vokes Theatre under director David Berti.

Tuesday, Aug. 11, 7:30 p.m. — Arts Wayland presents "The Songwriter's Woodshed" at its Andrew Avenue gallery.

Monday, Aug. 17, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. — Arts Wayland hosts "Macho Mocha: Coffee & Connection for Men," a community gathering at the gallery.

Friday, Aug. 28, 5 to 8 p.m. — Arts Wayland and Wayland Town Center co-host Tap'n'Tunes, an end-of-summer block party on Elissa Avenue featuring the band Seven2Many along with musician Georgia Raines, plus brews, cider and wine from Clover Road Brewery. The street will close to traffic for the event, which will include a splash pool and games for children.
