Wayland DPW board sets MWRA pitch for joint Select Board meeting
WAYLAND — January 17, 2023 — Wayland DPW board readies MWRA water article for joint Select Board session. The Board of Public Works on Jan. 17 set its approach for a Jan. 23 hybrid joint meeting with the Select Board, where Kleinfelder will present an abbreviated case for a town meeting article authorizing application to the MWRA; Chair Cliff Lewis said he will work with Acting Town Manager Carol on the exact vote requested. DPW Director Tom Holder reported PFAS results remain "non-detect" and that incoming pressures to the treatment facility have dropped 15 to 20 psi since clogged piping was replaced. Member Sherry Greenbaum pressed for an outside hydrogeology study — AECOM's Doug DiNatale quoted roughly $15,000 — to support a possible moratorium on new private wells. The board also booked a March public forum, learned a new DPW project manager starts Jan. 30, and noted a $10,000 payment received against an outstanding pool balance that stood at $19,000 in August.
