Wayland Conservation Commission ratifies enforcement order at Dudley Pond

WAYLAND — August 20, 2025 — Wayland Conservation Commission ratifies enforcement order over unpermitted Dudley Pond construction. Conservation Administrator Linda Hansen told the commission Wednesday that the new owners of 68 Lakeshore Drive built a retaining wall, masonry patio and dock within about six feet of the pond, with part of the patio extending onto a town path. The 4-0 ratification requires a notice of intent for any work within 100 feet of the pond, which covers nearly the whole lot. The commission also closed a redone hearing on Urban U.S. Retail LLC's outdoor-retail conversion at 297 and 311 Boston Post Road; split a tree-removal request at 2 Orchard Lane, allowing two Norway maples to come down but denying a sugar maple and a red oak that Vice-Chair Shannon Fischer said was too healthy to lose ("it's tough to take down a mature, healthy tree"); and accepted $1,855.88 in donated performance bonds to its gift fund.
