PMBC approves change orders as community center completion slips to April

WAYLAND — March 11, 2025 — Wayland community center substantial completion slips to April 11 as power delays drive new change orders. The Permanent Municipal Building Committee on Tuesday approved Change Orders 7 and 8 and a proposed Change Order 9 covering extended general conditions through April — roughly $55,000 on top of a previously negotiated $105,000 for the Feb. 11 through March 31 period, billed at about $10,000 per week. Project manager Bill Cary said Eversource was set to energize the transformer Wednesday, nearly a month behind schedule. The panel also approved an $8,500 sixth amendment to the architect's task order and absorbed a $33,000 credit after a BDA radio test was waived. Members estimated third-party and intra-town delays cost the project around $100,000, noting "technically those changes were approved with zero zero days." Grand opening remains set for early June.
