The following is a compilation of incidents and arrests recorded in the Wayland Police Department's official public log for the period January 5–18, 2026. All persons listed are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Domestic violence incidents, sexual assaults, and juvenile matters are excluded per Massachusetts law (G.L. c. 41, section 98F).


Monday, Jan. 5, 8:13 a.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: Two-vehicle crash on Commonwealth Road near Old Tavern Road; no injuries reported.

Monday, Jan. 5, 3:42 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: Two-SUV crash at Veritas Christian Academy on the 0–10 block of Loker Street; no injuries reported.

Tuesday, Jan. 6, 7:24 a.m., Noise Complaint: A Shaw Drive resident complained of loud construction beginning before 7:00 a.m.; the party was advised.

Tuesday, Jan. 6, 9:45 a.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: Two-vehicle crash on Commonwealth Road.

Tuesday, Jan. 6, 12:05 p.m., Gas Odor: A natural gas odor was reported in the area of Snake Brook Road.

Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1:07 p.m., Road Hazard: A large tire was found on the side of Cochituate Road near the center.

Tuesday, Jan. 6, 3:51 p.m., Online Scam Report: A Boston Post Road resident reported his son had been scammed online.

Tuesday, Jan. 6, 3:38 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: Two-car crash at Cochituate and Millbrook Roads.

Tuesday, Jan. 6, 3:39 p.m., Wire Down: A low-hanging wire on Sycamore Road was confirmed as a wire drop by the Fire Department.

Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1:21 a.m., Road Hazard: Icy conditions reported on Sherman's Bridge Road at Concord Road.

Wednesday, Jan. 7, 8:35 a.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: Minor three-vehicle crash at Happy Hollow School.

Wednesday, Jan. 7, 11:12 a.m., Wires Down: Downed wires reported on Shore Drive.

Wednesday, Jan. 7, 3:14 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: Two-vehicle crash at the Sunoco Gas Station on the 10–20 block of Main Street; no injuries and no towing required.

Wednesday, Jan. 7, 5:56 p.m., Disabled Vehicle: A stalled vehicle on Old Connecticut Path at Stonebridge Road blocked traffic briefly; passersby provided a jump start and the vehicle left under its own power.

Wednesday, Jan. 7, 7:28 p.m., Fire: Oven fire in a residence; the Fire Department moved the oven outside and ventilated the home.

Thursday, Jan. 8, 1:03 p.m., Solicitor Complaint: A Forty Acres Drive resident reported solicitors ignoring a posted no-soliciting sign; the responding officer found the solicitor held a valid permit.

Thursday, Jan. 8, 3:46 p.m., Animal Rescue: A dog fell through ice into the Sudbury River near Green Way; responding personnel entered the water and retrieved the dog; both exited safely.

Thursday, Jan. 8, 4:26 p.m., Arrest: Police stopped an erratic motor vehicle. Joseph Kevin Lydon, 26, of Wayland, was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Liquor (second offense) and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Thursday, Jan. 8, 4:34 p.m., Gas Odor: A gas odor was reported inside a Joyce Road residence.

Friday, Jan. 9, 8:24 a.m., Gas Leak: A gas leak was reported at the 0–10 block of Andrew Avenue; the Fire Department discovered pilot lights out at an adjacent restaurant, ventilated the businesses, and relit the pilots.

Saturday, Jan. 10, 11:38 a.m., Road Hazard: A wooden pallet was removed from the roadway at Old Sudbury Road and Andrew Avenue.

Saturday, Jan. 10, 4:32 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: Minor motor vehicle accident at Domino's Pizza on the 20–30 block of Main Street.

Sunday, Jan. 11, 7:47 a.m., Road Obstruction: A tree blocking Rice Road at Covered Bridge Lane was removed by an officer.

Sunday, Jan. 11, 1:00 p.m., Road Obstruction: A large tree branch blocked Pleasant Street near Parkland Drive; police partially cleared the roadway.

Monday, Jan. 12, 6:18 p.m., Utility Hazard: Arcing from a telephone pole was confirmed near School Street and Gregory Lane; Eversource was notified.

Monday, Jan. 12, 7:23 p.m., Road Hazard: An ice patch was reported on Route 20 westbound at the Sudbury River bridge; Mass Highway was notified.

Tuesday, Jan. 13, 7:10 p.m., Smoke Alarm: A residential smoke alarm activated at a boarding house on Loker Street; the Fire Department checked the house and reset the alarm, with smoke from the kitchen identified as the likely cause.

Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1:28 p.m., Scam Report: A Grove Street resident came to the station to report a possible scam.

Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2:10 p.m., Welfare Check: A person reported climbing a fence at the Oak Street overpass was transported to a hospital.

Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2:18 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: Two-car crash at Boston Post and Glen Roads.

Wednesday, Jan. 14, 4:43 p.m., Loose Dog: A loose German shepherd in the Hamlen Woods parking lot was returned to its owner by an officer.

Friday, Jan. 16, 10:13 a.m., Dog Attack: A large black dog off leash attacked a group of other dogs near Maguire Road; the dog was traced to a Pleasant Street resident and secured at the home.

Friday, Jan. 16, 12:41 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: Two-car crash on Old Connecticut Path.

Saturday, Jan. 17, 1:42 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: Two-car crash at the Landfill on the 480–490 block of Boston Post Road.

Saturday, Jan. 17, 1:54 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: Two-car crash at Waltham and Concord Roads knocked down a stop sign.

Saturday, Jan. 17, 3:10 p.m., Gas Odor: A gas odor near Town Hall at Cochituate and Millbrook Roads was confirmed at the Public Safety Building and the intersection of Routes 20, 27, and 126; the gas company was notified.

Saturday, Jan. 17, 3:56 p.m., Motor Vehicle Damage: A vehicle found parked on Old Connecticut Path near Route 20 with front-end damage was later identified as having been in a crash at Rice Road near Turkey Hill Road.

Sunday, Jan. 18, 7:18 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: A single-vehicle crash on Old Connecticut Path struck a telephone pole; no injuries reported.

Sunday, Jan. 18, 7:50 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: Single-car crash at Rice Road and Old Connecticut Path; no injuries reported.

Sunday, Jan. 18, 8:26 p.m., Disabled Vehicle: Police assisted a motorist whose car was stuck in snow at Millbrook and Glen Roads.

Sunday, Jan. 18, 8:49 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: Single-car crash on Plain Road; vehicle was towed.
