The following is a compilation of incidents and arrests recorded in the Wayland Police Department's official public log for the period January 19–31, 2026. All persons listed are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Domestic violence incidents, sexual assaults, and juvenile matters are excluded per Massachusetts law (G.L. c. 41, section 98F).
Monday, Jan. 19, 3:46 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: A two-vehicle crash occurred at Old Connecticut Path and Rice Road; no injuries reported.
Tuesday, Jan. 20, 7:21 p.m., Deer Strike: An SUV struck a deer on Concord Road near Glezen Lane; the animal was located.
Wednesday, Jan. 21, 9:42 p.m., Gas Odor: A resident on the Claypit Hill Road reported a gas odor following a fireplace installation; the Fire Department confirmed the presence of gas.
Thursday, Jan. 22, 9:54 a.m., Burglar Alarm: Police investigated a residential alarm on Glezen Lane; multiple animal tracks were found near a basement window.
Thursday, Jan. 22, 2:44 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: A minor two-vehicle crash was reported at the Post Office on the 200 block of Boston Post Road.
Friday, Jan. 23, 1:20 a.m., Fire Alarm: Smoke was confirmed on the first floor of Alta Oxbow at the 400 block of Boston Post Road; the area was ventilated.
Saturday, Jan. 24, 3:40 a.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: A single-car rollover occurred on Old Connecticut Path; the operator was extricated but declined medical attention.
Saturday, Jan. 24, 9:08 a.m., Road Hazard: A large tree branch posed a falling hazard on Cochituate Road; police assisted with traffic control while the branch was removed.
Sunday, Jan. 25, 8:32 a.m., Arrest: Police investigating a disabled motor vehicle on Old Connecticut Path made an arrest. Jacob Diaz, 27, of Marlborough, was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Liquor (OUI) and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Sunday, Jan. 25, 1:58 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: A motor vehicle struck an anchor cable at a utility pole on Boston Post Road near Glen Road.
Monday, Jan. 26, 2:00 p.m., Carbon Monoxide Alarm: A carbon monoxide alarm sounded in a basement on Old Connecticut Path; the Fire Department confirmed low CO readings.
Monday, Jan. 26, 6:50 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: A single-car crash off Cochituate Road required towing.
Tuesday, Jan. 27, 7:02 p.m., Fire Alarm / Structural Damage: A burst sprinkler pipe set off a general fire alarm at the 500 block of Boston Post Road, causing extensive building damage; electricity, water, and gas to the building were shut off and building inspectors responded.
Wednesday, Jan. 28, 5:53 p.m., Motor Vehicle Accident: A two-vehicle crash at Commonwealth Road and Main Street sent one person to Newton-Wellesley Hospital via EMS.
Thursday, Jan. 29, 2:42 p.m., Gas Leak: An officer detected a natural gas leak in the vicinity of Plain Road near Bigelow Road.
Friday, Jan. 30, 5:52 p.m., Suspicious Activity: A caller on Pemberton Road reported a man going door to door claiming to be from Verizon; the parties were advised.
Saturday, Jan. 31, 9:27 a.m., Hit and Run: A person reported to the station a hit-and-run accident that occurred the previous day at Mel's Commonwealth Café on the 300 block of Commonwealth Road.
Saturday, Jan. 31, 1:30 p.m., Larceny from Motor Vehicles: A resident at Alta Oxbow on the 400 block of Boston Post Road reported personal items missing from both vehicles parked in the garage; both vehicles had been left unlocked.
