Finance Committee workshops sprawling town meeting warrant in three-hour article review

WAYLAND — January 21, 2025 — Wayland Finance Committee workshops the spring town meeting warrant in marathon article review. The Jan. 21 session previewed roughly 30 articles, including a $150,000 environmental remediation at 195 Main St., a new energy revolving fund projected to capture about $279,000 in utility rebates over five years, and a home rule petition to protect the Library Millennium Fund, which holds more than $2 million through Bartholomew Group investments. CPC representative Susan Weinstein said about $1.4 million in past CPA appropriations remains unspent, including the long-running Stone's Bridge project, which would receive another $85,000 this year. Petitioner Bonnie Gossels defended Article 1 recognizing volunteer service, saying it "costs the town zero taxpayer dollars." Finance Director Brian Keveney said operating budget numbers should arrive in mid-February. The committee next meets Jan. 27.
