Conservation chair sets Oct. 29 deadline to vote long-delayed tree bylaw

WAYLAND — September 24, 2025 — Wayland sets Oct. 29 vote on long-stalled Chapter 193 tree-removal regulations. Conservation Commission Chair Sean P. Fair told members Wednesday he will force a vote at the panel's next-but-one meeting, ending a five-year drafting process. "This is not going to November," Fair said, asking Administrator Linda Hansen to warn other town departments that further comments must come before, not at, the meeting. Vice-Chair Shannon Fischer signaled she may push to soften the draft's one-inch-to-one-inch replacement ratio. Earlier in the night, the commission heard a Carroll School plan to add roughly one acre of impervious surface and remove 87 trees at 37, 39 and 45 Waltham Road, with 27 replacement trees; and voted unanimously to retain a title attorney through KP Law to resolve a disputed drainage easement on Lot A1 of 13 Shereena Road.
